A Handmade Christmas!

Is there anything more special than receiving a handmade present at Christmas? Personally, I love to make handmade gifts or wrapping to go alongside bought gifts for my Christmas presents. The reason I love this idea is because it makes the receiver appreciate the time and effort put into the gift just that little bit more.

Last year, my partner and I went on a wine adventure to The Hunter Valley (NSW) in early December, and whilst we were there we decided to pick out wines from the wineries we were visiting for each one of our family/friends for Christmas. This not only benefitted me, but was also great for my partner who, let's face it, is your typical bloke who can't stand Christmas shopping. So, where does the 'handmade' element come in? Well, once all of the wine had been selected, I went about making around 20 x Calico bags with glitter stitching to act as bottle bags and the same amount of handmade gift tags for each one (some did miss out as I had an argument with my sewing machine!).

Not only did it provide a nice visual effect under the Christmas tree, but it gave our recipients something they could use again (see below).

So, this Christmas... think outside the regular store bought gifts, and go for something a little more personal and heartfelt (see below for some ideas).

And if you don't have time? There are always handmade markets in each capital city leading up to Christmas, which makes it so much easier to give handmade this Christmas!
